Enoki Mushroom

Enoki Mushroom is a thin, white, crunchy and slightly fruity edible fungus, belonging to the phylum Fungi, subphylum Basidiomycota, class Agaricomycetes, order Agaricales, family Physalacriaceae, genus Flammulina. It is called enokitake (榎茸, エノキタケ) in Japan and is a common ingredient in Japanese, Chinese and Korean cuisines, usually used in soups, stir-fries, hot pots, salads and other dishes.

 

Enoki Mushroom has many nutritional and health benefits, such as:

 

◆Rich in various nutrients, including fiber and B vitamins, such as niacin, pantothenic acid and thiamine.

◆Rich in various antioxidants, such as gallic acid, quercetin and ferulic acid, which can neutralize harmful free radicals, protect cells from damage and oxidative stress, and prevent various chronic diseases.

◆May inhibit cancer cell growth. Some in vitro studies have found that Enoki Mushroom extract may block the proliferation of liver cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer and stomach cancer cells.
